People, in these fast paced times, are worthy to be called natural racers. Most race with all sorts of situations in the course of daily living. One chases after the bus or the cab to get to work or to school on time. Employees and students alike race against the clock to meet deadlines for certain projects. Indeed, the human race is so obsessed with racing that they even transform it into a form of entertainment, which includes quarter midgets racing.

Racing has its roots to many, many years ago. For quite a while people saw it as a way to vent out their competitive streak and their inherent thirst for winning. There is nothing more elating than the feeling of winning and beating everyone else, and this is mainly one of the many reasons why people are so drawn into this particular sport.

Today, racers are by far more safe than their earliest predecessors. The mechanics of the sport, along with its primary objective, remains the same after thousands of years. From then until now, racing has remained to be a speed game wherein a racer must conquer the clock or best out all the other racers. It is a game where everything seems to be a blur and both competitors and spectators alike all experience that adrenaline rush that leaves you pumping and very much awake.

Cars are also very popular racing mediums. Auto races, as they came to be known, is typically composed of laps or levels. A lap is a complete turn around the track. A race typically has several of these, depending on the skill level of the participating competitors.

The most well known racing sports entail the use of automobiles. There are those motorbike races and exhibitions done on dirt tracks. Open wheeled vehicles are a staple in the very prestigious F1 race event. These very sleek looking cars are totally build for utmost speed that only the best racers can drive. Joining the Grand Prix is perhaps the most coveted goal of every young speed driver.

Some races do not even need any special equipment because they are aimed at testing sheer body strength. This can include sprints, hurdles, and swimming competitions. These types would need total body coordination which is why participants need weeks and even months just to prepare.

Most people think that it is easy for one to enter the race world, that one only needs to know how to drive. But, the reality is that those who start young have all the advantages. If you decide to start on in later life, your chances are pretty slim to none.

Quarter midgets are driven by boys aged 6 to 16. This level of racing is often used as a springboard to reach greater heights. This gets its name from the special vehicle that the drivers control, which is only about a quarter of a standard midget race car.

The competitions are often held in tracks that are only a fifth of the standard length. They also drive special cars that are only one fourth than those used by the experts. The earlier one starts, the more he stands a chance.
