Sizes, shapes and lustre of knives differ. The products are designed differently to be used for various purposes. Many people need blades of varying types for their desired purposes, and this causes the need for custom knives. They add to the beauty of the surrounding apart from the conventional usage in war.

The blades are preferred when curved for diversity of purpose. Among the uses are cutting vegetables, slicing bread and peeling. The shape is curved to reduce accidental cutting which is undesirable. There are individuals who have taken knife designing as a career. They engross themselves of the art in blacksmiths where the metals are heated to molten state the modeled appropriately. They then meticulously trim the blade into a fancy shape before decorating through addition of beautifying agents. As artists, they give first priority to quality.

There is need for peculiarity that singles out a given artist among many. Some begin by designing the miniature models such as daggers and pen knives. It is assumed that being tiny in size, they are not hard to make and are not time consuming. The ones with longer blades like the swords are however, quite tricky and need much dedication and time.

For these designers, there are forums when the works of art can be taken for displays. If one is lucky enough to win an award then it is one of the happiest of moments. It is wrong for one to be discouraged thinking that taking time in this noble task is a waste of time. The secret is to be unique but relevant to market needs. Work done with diligence and determination receives the highest acclaim from all the parts of the divide.
